As a web developer/designer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining websites that deliver excellent user experiences. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, content creators, and developers, to bring creative concepts to life. As a web developer/designer, you will have a strong grasp of aesthetics, constraints, and implementation and be expected to contribute authoritatively towards our Web Developer/Designer projects, producing designs in Figma and implementing new functionality through Vue components (and where necessary in the backend) to a high level of design precision.
At NewsNow, web developers and designers are highly collaborative, so you’ll also be invited to work closely with other members of our team in conceiving design and development efforts, researching and specifying planned product enhancements, and reviewing and providing feedback on designs and code produced by others.
Key Responsibilities of Web Developer/Designer:
- Web Developer/Designer Design and develop responsive, mobile-friendly websites that provide an optimal user experience.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and visual web developer/designer designs that align with business objectives.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-structured HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code.
- Optimize websites for performance, accessibility, and SEO best practices.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure brand consistency and functionality across all web platforms.
- Implement and maintain CMS solutions (e.g., WordPress, Webflow, Shopify) and ensure they function smoothly.
- Troubleshoot website issues and implement necessary fixes and enhancements.
- Stay updated with the latest web design and development trends, tools, and technologies.
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive designs that work across multiple devices.
- Work with UX/UI designers to implement innovative, engaging web experiences.
Required Skills and Qualifications of Web Developer/Designer:
- Proven experience as a web developer/designer with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as Bootstrap or Tailwind CSS.
- Experience with modern JavaScript libraries and frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js, or Angular) is a plus.
- Knowledge of web design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, or Photoshop.
- Strong understanding of UX/UI principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms like WordPress, Webflow, or Shopify.
- Experience with website performance optimization techniques.
- Basic understanding of SEO best practices and web accessibility standards.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote work environment.
For this Web Developer/Designer role, you will need:
• Strong design skills and a proficiency in Figma or similar tools
• Prowess in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/ES6, and responsive design
• Vue.js; or experience working with a modern front-end framework such as React or Angular and a willingness to pick up Vue.js quickly
• A thorough understanding of UI/UX processes and best practices
• A keen eye for detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications of Web Developer/Designer:
- Experience with eCommerce platforms and building online stores.
- Knowledge of backend technologies such as PHP, Node.js, or Python.
- Understanding of database management and integration (MySQL, Firebase, MongoDB, etc.).
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Previous experience working in a fully remote team.
