ControlAI is a non-profit organisation dedicated to preventing the development of unsafe superintelligence and ensuring that AI technologies benefit humanity. Role Overview
As a Policy Advisor, you will lead engagement with UK parliamentarians on AI safety and superintelligence governance. Working closely with senior leadership, you’ll shape strategy, brief officials, and drive concrete policy action to mitigate AI-related risks. (European Digital Rights (EDRi))
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert briefings to parliamentarians and civil servants on superintelligence risks and governance solutions.
- Apply a results-driven “campaigning” approach toward policy goals, ensuring commitments to action and coalition growth across government, academia, and industry.
- Test messaging, iterate quickly, and continually optimize based on feedback and results.
- Track, analyze, and report on progress toward key deliverables—for example, achieving engagement with 30 members of Parliament by June. (data.org)
Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience working in parliament, civil service, a relevant think tank, or a public affairs firm.
- Strong political instincts and familiarity with policy networks.
- Exceptional communication skills—clear, persuasive, and audience-aware across written, spoken, and visual formats.
- Relentlessly goal-driven, comfortable with ambiguity, and energized by ownership.
- Experience with AI safety or another technical subject, or the ability to learn quickly about new technologies. (On Think Tanks, data.org, beBee)
