What are the minimum requirements you need for the role? • 5-7 years’ post qualification experience in a law firm, authorised corporate director / authorised fund manager, asset manager or other relevant firm within the UK funds industry • Experience would preferably cover both authorised funds lawyer (UCITS, NURS, QIS, LTAFs) and unauthorised funds • Bachelor’s degree in Law or relevant field •Lawyer Previous experience with the UK FCA. • Fluent English (written and spoken) essential • Lawyer Good understanding of a wide variety of investment fund vehicles and investment strategies • Familiarity with the full life cycle of a fund, including product design, regulatory approval, launch, ongoing Lawyer maintenance and development, international distribution and wind-down What is the role and what are your responsibilities? • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of fund and constitutional documentation and other investment related agreements including with fund administrators, depositaries, distributors, trading and brokerage counterparties, data and technology providers • Advise and assist on the formation, launch, registration and distribution of various fund structures (OEIC, ACS, LPs, EUUT, UT), covering both authorised and unauthorised funds • Advise and assist with the on-boarding of new investment manager clients to our growing ACD/AFM service offering and fund platform • Support the Sales and Client Relationship Management team by resolving legal queries from clients and counterparties with a consistent, “best-in-class” level of service • Stay up to date with relevant legal and regulatory developments to advise the firm on their implications for the business and our asset managers and investors • Review existing policies, procedures, and processes from a legal and regulatory perspective, including as to how they can be improved • Assist in the ongoing development of precedent documents • Successfully manage relationships with various law firms, in particular partnering effectively with external fund counsel • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in cross-functional projects • Attend and present at pitch and client meetings as a fund subject matter expert, demonstrating the firm’s service offering and value-add to win new and repeat business • Attend and present at board meetings on behalf of the firm’s legal function • Present internally to colleagues on relevant legal and regulatory updates as appropriate • Promote the firm and attend relevant industry and networking events as required • Provide input on ad hoc legal and regulatory projects as required What competencies do you require? • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple requirements and meet deadlines • Commercially minded • Proven ability to work independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including good negotiation skills • Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and maintain effective working relationships across geographic boundaries • Energetic and solutions-based team player who is willing to help and support your colleagues • Creative and practical in your approach to work and capable of delivering the required solutions to our clients Who is Carne Group?
