Job Title: Social Media Coordinator (Part-Time, Remote)

Role Overview
The Social Media Coordinator will play a critical role in managing and enhancing Progressive Maryland’s social media presence. Reporting to the Communications Director, this position focuses on graphic design, content creation, team leadership, and executing social media strategies to amplify our mission and campaigns. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, and passionate about social justice, with a strong ability to engage diverse audiences through digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Social Media Management:
- Manage Progressive Maryland’s social media calendar and all associated pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
- Schedule and post content regularly to ensure active and engaging social media presence.
- Share and repost relevant content from organizational allies and endorsed candidates.
- Content Creation:
- Collaborate with organizers to design and create digital content, including graphics, captions, hashtags, and campaign toolkits.
- Promote Progressive Maryland events, online actions, and legislative priorities through compelling social media posts.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead the Progressive Maryland Social Media Team by recruiting volunteers and organizing regular team meetings.
- Train volunteers to manage chapter and task force social media pages effectively.
- Strategy and Analytics:
- Develop and implement social media strategies tailored to campaigns and organizational goals.
- Create an annual Social Media Report to track growth, engagement, and analytics in collaboration with the Communications Director.
- Event Support:
- Provide live social media coverage during key events, legislative sessions, and campaigns.
- Engage in direct voter contact at events as needed, particularly during election years.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience in creating graphics and text for social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok).
- Graphic Design Skills: Proficiency in tools like Canva or similar design platforms.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn new digital platforms quickly.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, and work under pressure.
- Leadership: Capacity to work independently, as a team member, and as a team leader.
- Passion for Social Justice: A deep understanding of community challenges and a strong interest in driving transformative change.
Preferred Qualifications (Pluses):
- Experience running digital advertisements.
- Familiarity with Maryland’s political landscape.
- Interest in electoral campaign work and digital community organizing.
- Experience in non-profit communications or development.
Travel and Position Details
- Reliable access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, a laptop, and a phone are required.
- Willingness to travel throughout Maryland as needed for events and live-posting.
Compensation
This part-time role offers a compensation range of 25,500–25,500–32,500 annually, based on experience.
