Join Our Team as a Senior Practitioner (Pharmacy) – Part-Time, 2-Year Fixed Term

Are you an experienced pharmacist looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for two Senior Practitioners to join our welcoming team and help deliver our highly regarded independent prescribing course.

At our Pharmacy Department, you’ll find a supportive, collaborative environment with excellent teaching and research facilities. We’re proud of our achievements, including our School-level Silver Athena SWAN award for gender equality, and we’re always striving to do even better.

We’re looking for two pharmacists with hands-on clinical experience—whether that’s in a hospital, community, or primary care setting—who also have experience in training others. If you have a good first degree in Pharmacy and a passion for sharing your knowledge, you’ll fit right in. You’ll be working closely with our experienced team to deliver and assess the prescribing course, with a particular focus on clinical skills.

Our campus is modern and vibrant, offering fantastic facilities for both work and leisure. We have a diverse student body and strong partnerships with the NHS and other healthcare organizations. We take pride in our high teaching standards and our multi-disciplinary research, and we’re excited to keep building on these successes.

We believe in creating a stimulating and inspiring place to work and learn. Our academic standards are high, and we’re always open to new ideas and innovation. We also offer great opportunities for staff development—here, it’s not just our students who thrive.

As a Senior Practitioner, we expect you to stay actively involved in pharmacy practice outside the University. This could be through another job, consultancy, or freelance work—whatever keeps you connected to real-world practice.

We’re deeply committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion for all our students and staff. We want everyone to feel they belong here and can reach their full potential. We’re proud to be recognized as a Disability Confident Leader, a Stonewall Gold Award holder, a Top 100 Employer, and to hold both Athena SWAN and Race Equality Charter Bronze Awards.

If you’d like to chat informally about the role, please feel free to contact Prof Barbara Conway, Head of Pharmacy (b.r.conway@hud.ac.uk), or Sallianne Kavanagh, Subject Lead for Pharmacy (S.Kavanagh@hud.ac.uk).

If you’re a current student at the University, you’re welcome to apply for part-time roles of 16 hours or less per week. If you’re a part-time postgraduate student, you can also apply for full-time roles, subject to any visa requirements.
