About the Role
As our Part-Time Shopify Developer, you’ll play a vital role in building, customizing, and maintaining Shopify and Shopify Plus stores. You will transform creative designs into fully functional, pixel-perfect, and responsive online shopping experiences.
This role offers flexibility — you’ll work remotely from anywhere in the United States, set your own schedule (within U.S. business hours for meetings), and take on a variety of projects that allow you to leverage your technical skills and creativity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Store Development & Customization
- Develop, customize, and maintain Shopify and Shopify Plus stores to meet client and internal requirements.
- Build custom Shopify sections, templates, and Liquid logic for unique functionality.
- Implement responsive and pixel-perfect designs from Figma, Sketch, or other design tools.
2. Performance Optimization
- Optimize Shopify stores for speed, page performance, and Core Web Vitals.
- Improve load times, image optimization, and overall site responsiveness.
3. Integration & App Management
- Integrate and configure third-party Shopify apps and APIs to extend store functionality.
- Customize app integrations to meet specific project needs.
4. Debugging & Troubleshooting
- Quickly identify and resolve bugs, errors, and site issues.
- Ensure all features function smoothly across devices and browsers.
5. Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with project managers, designers, and marketing teams to deliver seamless solutions.
- Participate in regular virtual team calls during U.S. business hours.
6. Code Quality & Best Practices
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Use Git and version control workflows to manage code changes effectively.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Location: U.S.-based only (due to time zone and client requirements).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of professional Shopify development experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).
- Deep understanding of Shopify theme architecture and Online Store 2.0.
- Comfortable using Git and version control workflows.
- Performance Optimization: Demonstrated experience improving Shopify site performance and Core Web Vitals.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently.
Preferred (Bonus):
- Experience in Shopify app development.
- Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue) as they relate to Shopify integrations.
- Familiarity with headless commerce architecture.
Compensation & Hours
- Hourly Rate: $45–$75/hour (depending on experience and skill set).
- Schedule: Flexible part-time hours (10–20 hours/week to start, with potential for up to 30 hours/week based on workload and performance).
- Remote Work: 100% remote, but must be available for scheduled team calls during standard U.S. business hours.
