Part-Time Cashier – SHOPPERS Food (Westminster – Maryland)

Job Overview:

As a Part-Time Cashier at SHOPPERS Food in Westminster, Maryland, you will provide prompt and friendly service to customers, assisting them as needed. You will operate a cash register and perform all corresponding duties efficiently.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, showing care, concern, and patience in all interactions, treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Smile and greet customers warmly, whether in your designated department or elsewhere in the store.
• Operate the cash register accurately and scan all products.
• Redeem promotional coupons, food stamps, WIC checks, rain checks, handle cash, checks, EFT transactions, and in-store charges, calculate discounts, count back change, and issue receipts and Catalina coupons.
• Place merchandise in the cart neatly and organized, assisting courtesy personnel as needed.
• Answer customer questions and concerns, following up with the appropriate personnel.
• Understand and follow local, state, and company policies on sales of tobacco and liquor.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines regarding WIC and food stamps.
• Know the value, look-up numbers, department numbers, and features of items for which money is received.
• Stock, face, and rotate merchandise, clean shelves, understand shelf tags, know the location of merchandise in the store and back room, and assist customers in finding items.
• Review the weekly store ad for price changes and sale items.
• Keep the register area clean, adhere to “5S” standards, ensure adequate supplies are ready and available, and help maintain the store’s appearance.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions and deal with a few concrete variables.
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies verbally or in writing.
• Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with depth perception and field of vision.
• Must be able to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
