As we continue to expand our reach, we are seeking a talented and creative HTML Email Designer to join our team remotely on a freelance/hourly basis.
Position Overview of HTML Email Design
We are looking for a skilled and passionate HTML Email Designer with a sharp eye for aesthetics and technical email development knowledge. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, coding, and optimizing visually compelling email templates that communicate our brand, values, and upcoming events to our audience. Your expertise in responsive design and email client compatibility will be critical in delivering seamless experiences to thousands of dance enthusiasts across devices.
This is a fully remote, freelance position offering competitive pay ranging from $62 to $91 per hour, depending on experience and portfolio strength.
Key Responsibilities of HTML Email Design
- Design visually appealing, mobile-responsive HTML email templates aligned with our branding guidelines.
- Code emails using clean, semantic HTML and inline CSS for maximum compatibility across all major email clients (Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail, etc.).
- Collaborate with our marketing, events, and creative teams to plan and execute effective email campaigns.
- Implement personalization, segmentation, and A/B testing strategies using email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Campaign Monitor, or similar).
- Ensure accessibility standards are met (alt text, logical structure, readable fonts, contrast ratios).
- Optimize image usage and load times for improved deliverability and performance.
- Troubleshoot rendering issues across different platforms and devices using tools like Litmus or Email on Acid.
- Maintain a consistent and engaging tone across different types of emails, from newsletters and promotions to event invitations and fundraising appeals.
Required Skills & Experience in HTML Email Design
- Proven experience designing and coding HTML emails, preferably in a creative or performing arts setting.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and responsive email frameworks such as MJML or Foundation for Emails.
- Strong design sensibility with knowledge of layout, typography, and branding.
- Experience with email platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, SendGrid, Klaviyo, etc.).
- Familiarity with best practices in email marketing including deliverability, GDPR compliance, and spam filter avoidance.
- Ability to manage deadlines, multitask, and work independently in a remote environment.
- Strong communication skills and an eye for detail.
Bonus Skills (Preferred but Not Required) in HTML Email Design
- Experience working with a UK-based or performing arts organization.
- Motion graphics or GIF creation for animated emails.
- Working knowledge of Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, or other visual design tools.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, UTM tagging, and email performance tracking.
