Job Description: Senior Healthcare Assistant – Theatre

Location: The Sloane Hospital, Kent
Contract: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week (flexible shift pattern)
Salary: Up to £25,500 per year

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Healthcare Assistant in the Theatre department, you will play an integral role in the multi-disciplinary team, delivering exceptional care to patients and supporting colleagues.

Your primary duties are given below:

  • Patient Care:
    • Deliver high standards of patient-centred care in accordance with Circle Health Group policies and procedures.
    • Work collaboratively with the nursing and multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, consultants, and colleagues.
    • Support Registered Practitioners in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care.
  • Professional Conduct:
    • Maintain professional standards within the HCA framework and align with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Codes of Professional Conduct and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
    • Demonstrate competence in the role of Healthcare Assistant across your designated working areas.
  • Operational Support:
    • Perform duties such as phlebotomy and ECG recordings, contributing to the overall efficiency of the Theatre department.
    • Support pre-assessment processes and ensure a seamless patient experience.
    • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of theatre environments, ensuring adherence to safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Customer Service:
    • Interact professionally and compassionately with patients, addressing concerns and providing reassurance during challenging situations.
    • Contribute to enhancing customer satisfaction and service user experience.

Candidate Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Qualifications:
    • Care Certificate or equivalent.
    • GCSEs in Maths and English at grades A to C (or equivalent functional skills Level 2 evidence).
    • Willingness to work towards NVQ Level 3 (Healthcare-specific) or equivalent qualification.
  • Skills and Experience:
    • Proficient in phlebotomy and ECG recordings.
    • Experience in a pre-assessment environment is an advantage.
    • Prior experience as a Healthcare Assistant, preferably in a Theatre setting, is essential.
    • Strong proficiency in using PCs and relevant software/systems.
    • Proven experience in customer care, particularly in managing challenging situations.

    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • The ability to manage tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
