About FPGA Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced FPGA Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that drives high-performance systems in industries such as aerospace, telecommunications, defense, and more. If you are passionate about hardware design, embedded systems, and creating scalable FPGA architectures, we want to hear from you!

As an FPGA Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, verification, and implementation of complex digital circuits using FPGAs. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams of software engineers, systems engineers, and hardware designers to deliver reliable and efficient hardware solutions.

Key Responsibilities of FPGA Engineer

  • Design, implement, and test FPGA-based systems using VHDL or Verilog.
  • Develop simulation test benches and conduct functional and timing simulations.
  • Work with high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, and other FPGA I/Os.
  • Perform synthesis, place & route, and timing analysis using vendor tools (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus).
  • Integrate FPGA designs into broader systems, collaborating with software and hardware engineers.
  • Generate and maintain design documentation including architecture specifications, test plans, and timing reports.
  • Support bring-up, debugging, and validation of FPGA designs on hardware platforms.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to system architecture decisions.
  • Stay updated on the latest FPGA technologies and development practices.

Key Requirements of FPGA Engineer

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with FPGA development.
  • Proficient in VHDL or Verilog HDL for RTL design.
  • Strong experience with FPGA toolchains from Xilinx, Intel (Altera), or Lattice.
  • Solid understanding of digital design principles, timing analysis, and clock domain crossing.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, TCL, or Bash for automation.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and datasheets.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Skills (Bonus Points) of FPGA Engineer

  • Experience with embedded C or software integration.
  • Familiarity with system-level design tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Experience working with SoC platforms (e.g., Zynq, Stratix 10).
  • Knowledge of Linux device drivers or real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Exposure to AI/ML hardware acceleration or signal processing applications.

What We Offer in FPGA Engineer

  • Competitive salary: £75,000 – £81,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.
  • Flexible working hours with hybrid or remote working options.
  • Generous holiday entitlement and pension scheme.
  • Opportunities for training, certifications, and continuous professional development.
  • Work on industry-leading projects with global impact.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment.
