PATH’s External Affairs division leads PATH’s Editor/Proofreader, marketing and communications, policy and advocacy, philanthropy, business development, and strategic corporate engagement efforts. We tell the story of PATH’s work internally and externally, support the efforts of governments and policymakers around the world to adopt healthy policies, and inspire donors and corporations to partner with us and support our work.
PATH’s Brand and Creative team is part of the Editor/Proofreader, Marketing and Communications department within the External Affairs division and offers a range of creative services to PATH, including brand management, content strategy, writing, editing, proofreading, graphic design, photography, web design, user experience, and more.
Our team has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced technical editor and proofreader to join us in the Eastern time zone of the United States. This position will collaborate across the Marketing and Communications department and the entire organization to edit and proofread a variety of documents and communications.
The editor/proofreader will:
- Edit and proofread documents and communications for grammar, clarity, coherence, and PATH style.
- Format documents to meet requirements of PATH templates or other templates.
- Add bandwidth to the Marketing and Communications department’s proofreading services.
- Provide backup coverage to:
- The Lead Editor/Proofreader in maintaining PATH style resources and answering style questions from staff and freelancers.
- The Creative team’s administrator in receiving, assessing, and assigning proofreading requests to our pool of freelancers.
Editor/Proofreader || Required Experience
- A minimum of 7 years of experience Editor/Proofreader scientific/technical documents (e.g., academic journal articles, grant proposals, funder reports, professional resources) to ensure correct grammar, clarity, and alignment with institutional style required.
- Master’s degree in relevant discipline strongly preferred.
- Experience with scheduling software Smartsheet required.
- Proven track record of editing following the Chicago Manual of Style and AMA Manual of Style.
- Knowledge of and experience with PATH style and PATH-branded templates (preferred, but not required).
- Clear, concise communicator with strong customer service instincts.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and as part of a cross-disciplinary, remote, internationally distributed team.
- Ability to independently interact with global colleagues and partners and provide creative services in a professional manner.
- Proficiency in MS Office products.
- Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

We offer our employees a competitive salary and generous benefits. For candidates based in the U.S., the annual salary range for this position is $64,000 – $80,000. The final salary is based on a variety of objective factors. PATH provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes 15 vacation, 11 holiday, 2 personal and 12 sick days per year; medical and dental plans; life insurance; disability and retirement benefits. Hybrid Work
PATH operates within a hybrid workplace model unless otherwise noted. Hybrid employees must reside within commuting distance to one of our PATH offices. PATH’s US offices are located in Seattle, WA and Washington, DC. Fully remote candidates will be considered.
