Social Media and Content Officer in the UK Full-time No degree required
Job description
Our brand social media channels are fundamentally important to our University. They serve as our shop windows, our information hubs, and our news broadcast channels, and are where we celebrate our incredible students, staff, and graduates. We’re now looking for a talented and proactive Social Media & Content Officer to drive our social media’s reach and engagement. Working as part of a Marketing & External Relations team, this role will own and deliver the social media strategy, ensuring we’re always up-to-date, informative, and most importantly inspirational to the graduates of tomorrow. The Social Media & Content Officer will have a rich, broad role. One day, you might be scheduling content for our brand channels (incl. TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, and Facebook), the next you might be capturing content at a performance, or working with our Videographers on a larger campaign. We’re so proud that all of our central marketing content is planned and executed in-house. From film-quality video to national news pieces, our glossy print prospectus to full lifecycle email marketing, and everything in between we work as a highly effective team. We work across both our Penryn and Falmouth campuses, representing the University through content that cuts through the noise and represents who we are, and what we stand for: creativity in everything. This role will be part of the Digital Team, currently 12 people covering our public-facing digital marketing. We work closely with our in-house Design Team and our internal communication and PR colleagues, to make sure that we’re telling the stories that matter to our audiences. The ideal candidate for this role will need to be positive, organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a real interest in the University and our local community. They will be a confident communicator, with the ability to understand different audience groups, and their motivations, and respond to this with great-quality social content. Social media is by nature a fast-paced environment, and we are looking for someone who is able to plan effectively, but is also able to pivot in response to the needs of our student recruitment cycle, and jump on an opportunity for great content! We’re looking for candidates with recent, relevant experience in • Managing public social media platforms, and a knowledge of the practical and strategic challenges of each platform • Organising content: making sure there’s always something engaging and relevant for our social channels • Content creation: we’re looking for someone who is comfortable turning their hand to capturing content across our campuses • Communication: being comfortable chatting with students, staff and graduates to gather interesting content, and weaving this into the social channels • Problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively to get things done For further details on the skills/experience required for this role, please see the full job description above. This is a full-time, 35 hours per week position, with optional hybrid working. As a team, we currently work a minimum of 2 days per week from our Penryn and Falmouth campuses, or candidates are welcome to work 5 days from campus if preferred. Given the nature of the role, it’s likely the successful candidate would be on campus more often, gathering content, attending events, and working with students and staff to capture the essence of what it’s like to study at Falmouth.
