The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.
We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.
These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone.
We are looking for a Data Insights Analyst to join our team.
Where in Wellcome will I be working?
You will join the Data Insights team – a team of quantitative and qualitative data analysts, data visualisation specialists and product managers. We build data products and deliver robust insights into our funding and organisational data, to support decision making at all levels of the organisation.
We sit within the Data & Digital team, which also includes software engineers, machine learning engineers and designers. We all work together in supporting Wellcome’s mission to address worldwide health challenges.
What will I be doing?
We will support you in growing your data & analytics skills, through building dashboards & data products and delivering insights to stakeholders across the organisation.
You will:
- Contribute to the scoping and delivery of high quality analysis and insights to help Wellcome gain a deeper understanding of its funding and organisational data
- Work with a variety of large datasets and employ a variety of analytical and statistical methods to solve complex problems
- Contribute to the writing of reports to support the dissemination of research, analysis and insights
- Effectively and clearly communicate technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

We are looking for someone who has:
- A numerate background and strong data analysis skills (Essential)
- Data visualisation and interpretation skills (Essential)
- Enthusiasm to continue to learn new skills, tools and techniques (Essential)
- Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to synthesise information and convey key points clearly (Essential)
- Understanding of the science (life/social), public health, innovation or policy sector and/or an ability to get up to speed quickly on a breadth of science and research policy issues (Desirable)

We understand that our colleagues have commitments and personal interests outside of work and we strive to build a flexible working environment, in which people can perform at their best. We are currently working 2 days per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) from our Euston Road offices (as part of our hybrid Ways of Working) with the remaining 3 days working either remotely or in the office.
From 1st September 2024 we will move to 3 days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) with the remaining 2 days working either remotely or in the office.
