Short-Form Video Editor for DIY/Crafts Content – $20/hr

We’re looking for a creative and detail-oriented Short-Form Video Editor with a passion for DIY and crafts content. This is a part-time, remote freelance opportunity for someone who loves transforming long-form raw footage into engaging, fast-paced vertical videos tailored for social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

About the Role

As our video editor, your main responsibility will be to take raw video files (typically 10–20 minutes long) and transform them into polished, vertical short-form videos that are 1 minute or longer. These videos will feature a variety of DIY and craft projects, so a sense of rhythm, pacing, and visual storytelling is essential.

We’re not looking for basic trimming — we want someone who can add energy and flow to the content. The final edits should feel dynamic, visually appealing, and engaging from the first second to the last. Think of something that could keep viewers hooked while scrolling through their feeds.

Each final edit must be vertical format (9:16) and optimized for mobile-first viewing. That includes things like strategic use of text overlays, sound effects, quick transitions, and clear visual instructions when needed.

Workload & Turnaround Time

  • Videos per week: 1 to 3 short-form videos
  • Raw footage length: 10 to 20 minutes per project
  • Final video length: 1 minute or more (not strictly capped)
  • Turnaround time: Ideally 2–3 days per video

You’ll receive clear instructions and access to raw files. We’ll work together to develop a consistent editing style that matches the brand’s voice and visual aesthetic.

Ideal Candidate

We’re seeking Video Editor who:

  • Has experience editing short-form, fast-paced videos (1 minute or longer)
  • Can work with CapCut or is already familiar with it (desktop version preferred)
  • Is a good communicator and open to feedback
  • Understands DIY and crafts or has interest in the niche (a plus but not required)
  • Has a good sense of storytelling and pacing, especially for social platforms
  • Pays close attention to detail and knows how to make videos both fun and informative
  • Is reliable and can commit to a regular schedule (1–3 videos/week)

This is not an entry-level position. We’re looking for someone who already understands the language of short-form content and can create edits that hold attention and add value to the viewer experience.

Job Requirements

  • Proficiency in CapCut – this is our preferred editing platform, so experience with it is required. The desktop version is highly recommended due to its advanced features and flexibility.
  • Video Editor Access to your own editing setup (laptop or desktop, internet connection, etc.)
  • Video Editor Ability to deliver polished final cuts with color grading, text overlays, and sound/music
  • Video Editor Comfortable working with feedback and iterating as needed
  • Basic understanding of trending formats and hooks in DIY/crafts content

You’ll be given access to a shared folder with all raw footage, branding assets (if needed), and example references. You’re encouraged to bring your own creativity and flair to each video, while still following the general brand tone.
