About the Role of Assistant Manager

Our Corporate Financial Accounting (CFA) team is responsible for the accounting and reporting of Marriott’s investment, development, joint ventures, foreign exchange, and international banking activities.

As an Assistant Manager – Foreign Exchange & Hedging Accounting, you will:

  • Manage foreign currency hedging and derivative transactions.
  • Analyze financial results due to FX fluctuations.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to deliver financial reports.
  • Report directly to the Manager, CFA Banking Team.

Key Responsibilities of Assistant Manager

  • Develop a deep understanding of accounting and reporting for foreign currency transactions to ensure compliance with ASC 830, Foreign Currency Matters.
  • Provide training and support to finance/accounting colleagues worldwide on foreign currency issues.
  • Analyze company-wide FX impact on financial results and deliver reports to senior management.
  • Evaluate enterprise-wide FX exposures, including foreign assets, liabilities, and international cash flow, to assist Global Treasury in hedging strategies.
  • Assess foreign currency derivative instruments and determine appropriate accounting treatments.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Policy Group to ensure compliance with SEC disclosures (Forms 10-Q & 10-K).
  • Conduct functional currency assessments for new international subsidiaries and branches.
  • Compile and analyze cumulative translation adjustments (CTA) for potential divestiture transactions.
  • Perform accounting research and apply complex accounting principles to various transactions.
  • Ensure adherence to Marriott International policies (MIP 66) for FX reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits related to FX transactions and currency translation adjustments.
  • Contribute to continuous business process improvements within the department.

What You Need to Succeed

Qualifications of Assistant Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA, MBA, or advanced degree (Preferred but not required)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting/finance
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience in international accounting (Preferred but not required)
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft general ledger (Preferred but not required)
