Key Responsibilities of Clinical Data Manager

  • Clinical Data Management Leadership: Oversee clinical data management activities for multiple clinical trials, ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance with global regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA, MHRA).
  • Data Collection & Integrity: Develop and implement robust data collection strategies, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of clinical data across all studies.
  • Database Development & Maintenance: Work with EDC (Electronic Data Capture) systems to design, validate, and maintain clinical trial databases, ensuring user-friendly data entry and reporting functionalities.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with biostatisticians, clinical operations, medical monitors, and regulatory teams to ensure the effective collection, analysis, and reporting of trial data.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with ICH-GCP guidelines, 21 CFR Part 11, and other applicable data management regulations. Support audits and regulatory inspections as needed.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee and collaborate with external vendors providing data management services, ensuring quality and efficiency in deliverables.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance data management processes, leveraging new technologies and methodologies to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
  • Training & Mentorship: Provide training and guidance to junior data managers and study teams to ensure adherence to best practices in data management.

Required Qualifications & Experience of Clinical Data Manager

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences, data management, computer science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in clinical data management within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GCP, CDISC/CDASH, SDTM, and regulatory requirements in clinical trials.
  • Experience with Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems (e.g., Medidata Rave, Oracle InForm, Veeva Vault).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple studies and clinical data management projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with global teams.
  • Experience with SAS, SQL, or other data analysis tools is a plus.

Preferred Skills & Competencies of Clinical Data Manager

  • Experience in oncology, rare diseases, or CNS clinical trials.
  • Familiarity with risk-based monitoring approaches and data visualization tools.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing cross-functional collaboration effectively.
